The learning objectives of this introduction to suturing screen cast are:

  1. Differentiate between the different types of suture materials with success being differentiation of the materials that can be used to close skin vs. all other materials.
  2. List the steps of pre-closure wound care with success being the ability to recall proper analgesia/ anesthesia, foreign body identification and removal, and irrigation.
  3. Describe three different stitches with success being description of simple interrupted and vertical mattress.
  4. Apply post-closure wound care: antibiotics criteria, tetanus administration, length of time before suture removal guidelines, and home care instructions.
